Frequently Asked Questions

  • The talent check-in on April 28th is a friendly check-in so we can make sure the act is appropriate for school and performers are staying on schedule with practicing.

    This does NOT need to be a polished performance. It’s considered a “rough draft” and we understand it is a work in progress.

    If your child cannot attend in person on April 30, they can record their performance and send it to Lana and Carli via email.

  • The audience and performers will be elementary school students so please make sure all music and acts are kid friendly. Please also refrain from anything that promotes violence and /or weapons.

  • The talent show will be on Thursday, May 28 and Friday, May 29 at Bel Aire School. As of now the performance will be during school hours at an assembly. Due to capacity reasons, unfortunately parents and caregivers cannot attend. However, we will have a limited number of volunteer slots the day of the shows AND we will be filming the shows (not professionally).

  • Students can only perform in ONE act.

  • Yes, you are in charge of your child’s hair, make-up, costumes and props if it is part of their performance. There are certain things we can provide such as gymnastic mats and microphone.

  • In order to avoid repeating a song in the show, please make sure you have a back up song listed on your registration form.

    A song can only be used ONCE in the show.

    Please make sure the music is appropriate for an elementary school audience.

  • We will provide 2-3 opportunities for students to rehearse AFTER school on TUESDAYS during the month of May. We are asking that students playing instruments or MCs do NOT attend the rehearsals. Some students may be fine practicing at their home and it’s not mandatory to attend these rehearsals. If your child doesn’t come to the rehearsals then we may email to see an update. All performers including instrumentalists and MCs will also need to be available for the mandatory tech rehearsals on Tuesday, May 26.

  • There is a 2 minute maximum limit for on-stage performances. There is a 1 minute maximum limit for piano or other instrumental performances.

    If your child is showcasing a talent that can’t be done on stage such as ice skating, skiing or animation, then the time limit is also a maximum of 1 minute.

  • If your child has a talent that can’t be done on stage such as skiing, ice skating or animation, then please create a 1 minute video of their talent and we will find time during the talent show to show it on the projector. We recommend editing the footage so there is music.

  • If your child has a music track that they will need for the show, then yes, please email Lana and Carli the mp3 for it. Please label the music file with the name of the song. You should be able to download the music from sites like Amazon Music or Apple iTunes.

  • If your child is playing the piano, we will have access to the school piano. If your child prefers to play on their own piano and it’s easily portable, then you are welcome to use your own.

  • Here are some ideas: stand-up comedy, magic, singing, monologue, musical instrument, a skit, ventriloquism, juggling, gymnastics, all types of dancing such as break dancing, ballet, jazz and hip-hop.

  • If your child would like to audition for the role of an MC, please make note of that on the registration form. In April, after registration closes, we will send out a short script that your child can practice and use for their “MC check in.” They can do their MC check in via self tape a self-tape. Remind them make eye contact with the camera/audience and speak clearly. There will be more than one MC. The script for the actual shows will be sent out about 2 weeks before the show dates.

  • If your child wants to perform then they unfortunately won’t be able to MC since we need to allow other’s to have a chance on stage.
